Watch on YouTubeThe author of The Golden Fountain shares what he has learned after ten years of practice.
What this video covers
Podcaster Rupesh Patel of the Two Nobodies Podcast talks with Coen van der Kroon, author of The Golden Fountain and director of an Ayurveda academy in the Netherlands. The first part covers Ayurveda: his 40-plus trips to India, his training in the US, joint research in Germany on rheumatic disease and Parkinson's, and treatment matched to body type. He then tells how he came to urine therapy: on his first trip to India in the early 1990s, a stone crushed his toe at a Himalayan ashram; after three days on antibiotic cream it was swollen and turning black, a Dutch woman told him to wrap it in a urine-soaked cloth and gave him Armstrong's The Water of Life, and he says within two days new pink skin had formed. He drank his morning urine every day for ten years, but now says that is not necessary and that urine should not be treated as a miracle cure or life hack. He advises cleaning up your diet first, treating it as an experiment, and seeing an expert in natural medicine for health problems, and says in his view it works better for acute than chronic problems. He still uses it now and then for itchy eyes and blocked ears, and mentions research on melatonin breakdown products and stem cells in urine.
